The Sinner oil on canvas 24" x 36"
$1800.
'The Sinner' is an uncomfortably honest self portrait. It transcends the traditional portrait for its common use of depicting a likeness, and is rather an interpretation of what is perceived and is an expression of the artist's inward struggle.
The figure's skin is dull and paint strokes ruff. The absents of flowing hair and rosy hues express a lack of femininity and so a lack of self appreciation. She is in the dirt, surrounded by darkness with hands feebly opened. She looks up to heaven helplessly, feeling completely ruined and filthy, fully disappointed with her ability's and the world around her.
This piece marks the end of a dark time in my life. I was experiencing a depression that felt existential but I was never entirely hopeless because of the presence of God in my life. It is a favorite of mine.

Self Portrait on Horse Back oil on canvas 36" x 24"
$1700.
Inspired by "Man in Boat" by the painter Odd Nerdrum, who's work I admire very much, Self Portrait on Horse Back is melancholic and has a timeless quality. Though I feel I made it my own, Nerdrum's influence is unmistakable.
